Suspended Elegance, 2013

It's been a while, hasn't it? I've been so busy!

Today I want to share with you all my latest photoshoot with LaPhotoNET!
This was our second third time shooting together, and the second time for the Suspended Elegance series! He needed an "emergency floating lolita" so I stepped up to the plate, and was really excited about it! (Seriously, like all week I was planning my outfit)
For this set, I wore my Angelic Pretty Rose Dress Up JSK. I'm so in love with this dress <3 I wanted to do a lot of flowers too, so I did up my Cyperous wig with lots of clip-in flowers and bows :)

Rob and I drove out to Griffith Park and met up with Nelson and his crew of helpers, and got right down to business. The shoot took about an hour, and Nelson said he got all the shots he wanted! I had a few tricks up my sleeve too! I knew I wanted to do it barefoot; it gave it a different feel that I really enjoyed. We got some really cool standing shots too that made me feel like Mary Poppins ^^;

Here are my favorites:

Pretty cool, huh?
I seem to be really good at surprising myself! When the first photo appeared, I was like "0_0 that's me!?!?!" I was in total disbelief!
As much as I love the last set I did with him last year, I can see a big improvement in my style this time around. This definitely suits me a lot!
As always, Nelson is so much fun to work with! I hope we have an opportunity to shoot together again soon *poke poke*

Please check out the full series of Suspended Elegance from LaPhotoNet here!
Nelson wrote a little blog entry about the shoot here too ^^

Until Next Time
xoxo Sami ;)

A small post today!

Just a small post today, but big news! I’ve been posted on Fairytale Boutique’s Facebook!

We are happy to announce that Sami has started her temp intern position in our shop~ Also she is one of our official shop model ♥ She will be working as shop girl this month, come say hi to her on Fridays and on the weekends!

I love how this picture came out!
Toldja guys I’d show you eventually what that AP-style shopped picture was for!

I have to give a big thank you to Miki for accepting me as her intern, and teaching me so many things! I’m really happy I was able to do my internship at Fairytale Boutique, because I love the shop and the clothes, and I get to help out a friend :)

Until Next Time,
 Sami :D

Glam & Beauty

Hello Everyone!
Long time no post, school's been keeping me so busy x_x

On October 21, I did a photoshoot with LaPhotoNET. It was very different from the first photoshoot I did with him. My first shoot was in lolita (see blog entry here). This time, we did glam and beauty; a mix of glam and pinup.

The amazing Tani (designbymake) did my hair and makeup.
When I looked in the mirror, I barely recognized myself!

It took quite a while, but the result was awesome!
Photo from LaPhotoNET

We worked in Nelson's home studio. It was small, but I think it worked well for what we were doing. I brought a whole mess of clothes to play with. Black and red were the colors of choice, and we used a red background. I changed into about 5 different outfits throughout the shoot.

This was the first photo he processed, and my jaw dropped.
It looked too cool! I couldn't help but show everyone ^^;

Next was some black & white, which looked great:

I tried something a little different with this outfit, it felt a little more "pin-up mafia" to me, haha. We also added gold flakes around my eyes, it looked awesome!

Near the end of our shoot (mind you I got there at 3:45pm and left around 9-9:30pm!) I played around a bit more with my hair and turned out some awesome results!

Needless to say, I'm in love with this photo

This one is my absolute favorite, I could tell it would come out perfectly

All in all, I had a blast! It was a long shoot, but extremely well worth it :)
Both Nelson and Tani were wonderful to work with; I can't wait for our next shoot!

Please check out LaPhotoNET for the whole 21 photo set here,
a behind the scenes look here,
and also check out Tani at designbymake!

Until Next Time,
Stay Gold, Sami

Suspended Elegance

On June 10th, I became a part of LaPhotoNET's Suspended Elegance - Photos of Floating Lolitas. This was so amazingly fun, and I'm so thrilled how the photos came out!

From LaPhotoNET:
The fourth set [of floating lolitas] is with Sami Boardman. We met in downtown Los Angeles’ film district to shoot some urban floating Lolita photos. She came ready and pumped to float. We kept the shoot very simple, and ended up getting great results. I like that they are very much different from the sets I’ve done previously. I learned so much in this shoot. Thanks to Sami for being awesome.

Aren't these pictures awesome?! I love the coloring and how vibrant they are, and the location was a great choice! I agree with Nelson (the photographer), the contrast of this sweet style with the background makes it look so cool.
Now, I won't spoil how we made me float, but it was fun! and it's odd to see it from the other side because I know how it was done now :3
I'm really glad we had fun doing this shoot, and I like keeping my shoots upbeat by laughing often ^^ gotta have fun! There were other people taking photographs around where we were, and we saw them going into the middle of the street and though "shoot, why not!" So when there was a break in the cars passing we ran into the middle and shot :D It was very odd at one point because all the cars on one side slowed down and I looked over and was confused! We were in the center divider so there was no need...heh. Well, I had a lot a lot of people looking, and I got a few interesting remarks, for example a "Cinderella" and a cat call. literally. "meyowww!" I told Nelson and he was just as confused as I was! It was funny though XD

Some favorite comments I've gotten so far about the shoot:
Nelson: "Wow Sami! Thank you SO much for helping me! I got a lot of usable shots from you. you're freakin awesome!"

Sarah S. "Sami looks like Alice falling down the rabbit hole! That is so cool!"
Liz L. "I love this whole set so much. I love the model's face and poses AND how you juxtaposed the pink dress/blonde hair with urban grittiness. luuuurve it."
skyscraperopera.tumblr: "omg real hover lolis"
RoseAddict.DA: "This is so amazing! It's like Alice in Wonderland meets Momoko!"

I really hope to shoot again with LaPhotoNET, we had a blast, and I think we work well together :)
I know he's got some things up his sleeve, so we'll see when that happens!

Please check out the entire 18 photo set of me, and the 3 other floating lolitas he's shot with here.

Until Next Time,
xoxo Sami

Photoshoot!

Hi everyone!
On March 3rd, I did a photoshoot with my lovely friend Stephanie, and our photographer, the awesome, Mike Cabusi! It was the first real photoshoot I've done, and I had so much fun :D We shot at Scripps College in Claremont.

Steph was wearing A Midsummer Night's Dream JSK II in navy:

And I wore Twinkle Carnival Switching JSK in ivory:

I met a girl named Dae (well, that's how I spell it in my head), who helped Mike out with lighting. We also helped her out with a photography homework assignment - two photos for focus and another for movement.
I kept taking candid photos ^^;

Some of the stairs we shot on

Mike thought of really awesome shots, and I think a lot of them are going to turn out great! I'm so excited to see them, but they've got to be processed first x_x

Mike shooting Steph coming through the gate

While walking to another shooting location, we came upon a group of students playing QUIDDITCH!! It was so awesome to see something like that happening in person! It was pretty hilarious because they were holding their "broomsticks" between their legs XD I wonder how they figured out the rules to play...?

I can't wait for the photos to be uploaded, and I'll be sure to post them when they do!

Until next time,
<3 Sami
